WASHINGTON – Joint Select Committee on the Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plans Co-Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today delivered the following opening statement at a hearing to consider how the multiemployer pension system affects stakeholders:

The committee has taken a rigorous approach to the issues before it – examining in public hearings the complex range of problems that have led to the dire financial condition of a significant number of multiemployer pension plans, as well as of the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation, or the PBGC.

WASHINGTON – Joint Select Committee on the Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plans Co-Chairmen Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) today announced they will convene a hearing on Wednesday, July 25, to consider how the multiemployer pension system affects stakeholders. The hearing will take place at 10 a.m. in 215 Dirksen Senate Office Building.

WASHINGTON – Joint Select Committee on Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plans Co-Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today delivered the following opening statement at a hearing examining employer perspectives on multiemployer pension plans:

We have brought in business representatives to provide their perspectives on issues with the defined benefit system in order to better understand the realities employers face participating in the multiemployer system.

 

WASHINGTON – Joint Select Committee on the Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plans Co-Chairmen Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) today announced they will convene a hearing on Wednesday, June 13, to consider employer perspectives on multiemployer pension plans. The hearing will take place at 2 p.m. in 215 Dirksen Senate Office Building.

 

 

WASHINGTON – Joint Select Committee on Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plans Co-Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today delivered the following opening statement at a committee hearing examining the state of the Pensions Benefit Guarantee Corporation (PBGC). 

 

This is the Joint Select Committee’s second hearing to delve into issues concerning operations of the multiemployer pension system.

 

 

WASHINGTON – Joint Select Committee on the Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plans Co-Chairmen Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) today announced they will convene a hearing on Thursday, May 17, 2018, to examine the state of the Pensions Benefit Guarantee Corporation (PBGC). The hearing will take place at 10 a.m. in Dirksen Senate Office Building Room 215.

Today, we will begin our work in developing a deep base of knowledge on the issues surrounding multiemployer pension plans and the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation, or PBGC.

WASHINGTON — Joint Select Committee on Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plans Co-chairs U.S. Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the committee is seeking input from stakeholders. The committee aims to improve the solvency of multiemployer pension plans and the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation.

The hearing will take place at 2 p.m. in Dirksen Senate Office Building Room 215.
